Alcuin March

Composed by Alison Major, this includes lots of rhythmic variety, and allows the middle parts to shine with the melody in the 2nd section.

Alcuin was an ancient Philosopher from York, and I wrote this when teaching at the Alcuin  School in Leeds.

My arrangements are all very flexible – and viola parts usually double the violin or cello – allowing any combination of different skill levels from any stringed instrument to participate. It is not necessary to have all parts in the score played for the music to be satisfactory. Piano parts are provided for support, but are not essential.
Once purchased, the purchaser may make any number of copies of the parts for their own ensemble use – so catering for different combinations of students each year and providing students with practice parts to take home is not a problem!
